My Little Pony is a pretty pony with long, shiny hair. She likes you to comb her hair so it stays silky and soft. You can braid her tail and tie it in with a ribbon too!
These six ponies were the start of one of the most popular toy-lines of all time. These pastel-colored ponies, made by Hasbro, have silky, brushable hair and each pony has a name matching their symbol or color. Each pony was sold with a comb and ribbon.
The ponies in this set are often referred as "Flat Foot" ponies by collectors, because the bottoms of their hooves are flat and imprinted with round circles. The hooves are close together, and the pony's head low enough for her to easily tip forward. When Hasbro decided to continue the release of this pose they modified the pose, making their heads held higher with concave hooves.
Later, the six characters were re-named 'Collector Ponies' for a mail order issue in the US in the mid eighties. To tell the two releases apart, the MO ponies are more vibrant colored than the early release.
Butterscotch was also released with the Gymnkhana set and Snuzzle with an odd release of the Grooming Parlour and sold as a free pony via an Argos (UK store) offer with the Baby Pony Stroller. All three were UK exclusive.
There are a stable full of Blue Belle's in existence where the dye didn't stick to the plastic so well, leaving a bleached looking white pony behind. The level of color left varies by pony.
Each Collector pony has at least a handful of foreign counterpart. Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Greece, Argentina, etc...
